The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader with strong business acumen, experience managing geographically dispersed teams, and a proven track record of achieving sales and operational goals in a highly competitive market. This role is responsible for building and executing the regional sales strategy while leading a team of sales professionals to achieve strong commercial results. The position oversees the full sales cycle, from prospecting and pipeline development to closing strategic opportunities and expanding key accounts.


The Regional Sales Manager will guide and develop a team of account managers and inside sales professionals while also leading major customer engagements. Success in this role requires a strong sales background, leadership capability, and the ability to identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic regional sales plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach, and manage a regional team of account executives, driving collective performance to consistently meet and exceed regional sales targets and strategic objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with strategic accounts and industry partners.
  • Improve operational processes to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide regular business updates, forecasts, and performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Serve as an escalation point for key customer concerns and complex business issues.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and responsiveness throughout the region.
  • Develop long-term customer retention and growth strategies.


Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management, Life Sciences, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing multi-site, regional, or territory-based teams.
  • Demonstrated success achieving sales, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and business reporting tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% throughout the assigned region with marketing and business development teams to maximize market penetration.


Preferred

  • Masters degree (MBA or related field).
  • Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or scientific services.
  • Experience managing remote and field-based teams.
  • Knowledge of the Boston and broader Northeast market.
