About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Field Application Engineer to serve as the primary technical bridge between our customers and Singleton’s R&D, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams.


In this customer-facing role, you will support the design-in and commercialization of advanced thermal interface material (TIM) solutions for AI servers, data centers, and high-performance computing (HPC) applications. You will work directly with customers to understand their thermal, mechanical, process, and reliability requirements; recommend and optimize material solutions; lead product evaluation and qualification; and resolve application issues from initial development through mass production.


You will also translate customer feedback and field data into clear product requirements, improvement priorities, and technology roadmap inputs.


Responsibilities


* Serve as the primary technical contact for AI server, data center, and HPC customers throughout product selection, design-in, qualification, and mass production.


* Understand customers’ system architectures and translate thermal, mechanical, reliability, and manufacturing requirements into clear material and product specifications.


* Recommend and optimize appropriate TIM solutions, including thermal gels, thermal pads, phase-change materials, graphene-based TIMs, thermal interface films, and liquid-metal thermal materials.


* Lead customer evaluation and qualification activities, including sample planning, test-plan development, design of experiments, data analysis, technical reporting, and performance reviews.


* Provide on-site and remote technical support to troubleshoot material, dispensing, assembly, and reliability issues, such as pump-out, dry-out, oil bleeding,delamination, corrosion, particle shedding, and inconsistent bond-line thickness.


* Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to convert customer requirements into product improvements and customized solutions while ensuring manufacturability, process scalability, and consistent quality.


* Capture the Voice of the Customer and monitor emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive products to support product development and technology roadmap planning.


* Support the sales team with technical presentations, customer training, product demonstrations, technical proposals, and responses to customer inquiries.


* Manage multiple customer projects, maintain clear technical documentation, identify project risks, and ensure timely follow-up and delivery.


* Travel domestically and internationally to support customers, partners, and manufacturing sites as required.


Qualifications


* Bachelor’s degree or above in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field.


* At least five years of relevant experience in field application engineering, application development, product development, or R&D involving TIMs, thermally conductive silicone materials, adhesives, or electronics thermal management.


* Strong understanding of TIM performance characteristics, including thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, thermal impedance, bond-line thickness,compression behavior, rheology, pump-out resistance, oil bleeding, aging, and long-term reliability.


* Hands-on experience with material testing, experimental design, failure analysis, data interpretation, and technical problem-solving.


* Strong customer communication, technical presentation, and cross-functional project-management skills.


* Ability to communicate technical information clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.



Required Skills


* Experience supporting AI server, data center, semiconductor, cooling-system, or electronics OEM/ODM customers.


* Experience with thermal gels, phase-change materials, thermal pads, graphene-based materials, or liquid-metal thermal solutions.


* Familiarity with TIM dispensing, automated assembly, product qualification, and manufacturing scale-up.


* Knowledge of AI accelerators, GPU/CPU packages, heat sinks, cold plates, and liquid-cooling systems.


* Experience with thermal simulation tools such as Ansys Icepak or Siemens Simcenter FloEFD is a plus.
