Off Duty Officer Armed – Corporate Building

Overview

The Off Duty Officer is responsible for providing safety and security to our client’s employees, guests, customers, and property. This role includes assessing risks and threats, enforcing established safety procedures, and supporting the client’s internal safety team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly post and remain at that post unless directed otherwise by the client contact or Security Manager
• Maintain situational and tactical awareness throughout the shift
• Stay alert and prepared at all times and follow established safety and security protocols
• Report unusual activity or suspected safety risks to the Security Supervisor or Loss Prevention Manager in a timely manner
• Respond to incidents consistently and appropriately based on the situation and level of risk
• Respond to workplace violence incidents using appropriate and necessary levels of force
• Act appropriately during extreme weather events natural disasters structural emergencies and fires
• Assist with evacuations by directing employees to evacuation points
• Take photos of suspicious persons vehicles or situations and distribute via GFX or to a security supervisor
• Assist law enforcement in investigative processes when requested
• Display a welcoming and positive attitude and treat clients guests and team members with dignity and respect

Qualifications

• Active or retired certified New York law enforcement officer in good standing
• Maintenance of all required certifications and licenses based on duty status
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Versatility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
• Strong tactical weapon handling organizational problem solving and analytical skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to stand for six to eight hours
• Ability to make rapid physical movements in response to emergencies
• Occasional lifting or pushing of up to fifty pounds
• Occasional use of physical techniques to control resisting subjects using appropriate and necessary force
• Ability to tolerate exposure to outside weather including excessive heat and cold
• Ability to wear required protective equipment including firearms flashlights and restraint gear

Pay range: $45 - $50/hr
