The Commercial New Business Representative will work directly with sales agents, internal account executives and agency clients ensuring they receive competitive, comprehensive insurance offerings for new business, and thorough review of existing policies when applicable.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities
- Build application packets for sales team
- Work with sales team to review best coverages for accounts
- Market accounts to insurance carriers in an efficient manner that satisfies business and sales team needs
- Promptly and accurately respond to underwriting questions
- Negotiate with carriers on agency and client behalf
- Meet turnaround time expectations as determined by sales agent and internal guidelines
- Properly record and retrieve data using the agency management system
- Remotely send accounts for signature and binding
- Provide timely invoicing/billing/payment receipt information to accounting to avoid lapse in coverage or late penalties
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management or Insurance OR Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field with four years work experience OR an equivalent combination of direct education and experience in the field of insurance
- 440 Insurance License

- Understanding of Commercial Insurance Rating Factors
- Understanding of Carrier Guidelines and Appetites
- Communication proficiency in person and by phone with team members and insureds
- Proficiency forming emails to clients and responding to team member requests

Preferred Skills
- 220 Insurance License
- 2 Years industry experience in commercial underwriting and/or servicing
- Commercial department experience at an independent agency
Pay range and compensation package
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some overtime may be required. Some weekend event participation may be required.

Minimal travel required. Travel to local events and trade shows and occasional client site travel may be necessary.
