Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant for a front desk position working in an ambulatory surgery center. The ideal candidate will provide essential support in a clinical setting, assisting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This role requires a solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as knowledge of local insurance plans, verification of benefits and websites such as Availity and Optum. Bilingual Spanish/English as well as national MA certification is preferred but not required. Work experience in an ASC preferred.
Duties
- Front desk check in including insurance verification, referrals, collecting copays, scheduling, answering phones, etc.
- Provide medical administrative support, including managing patient records and scheduling appointments.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the back office area to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in various clinical procedures effectively.
- Communicate effectively with patients to provide excellent patient service and address any inquiries or concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations while handling patient information.
Qualifications
- Certification or training as a Medical Assistant.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
- Experience in providing patient service with a focus on empathy and care.
- Good computer skills including Word, Excel, and typing average of 40WPM.
- Familiarity with vital sign assessment techniques is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on patient interaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
