Assistant Preschool Teacher
We are seeking a compassionate, attentive, and dedicated Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our Waldorf early childhood classroom. The ideal candidate is inspired by Waldorf education, enjoys working with young children, and is eager to support a nurturing, rhythmic, and imaginative learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the lead teacher in maintaining a warm, safe, and consistent classroom environment rooted in Waldorf principles
- Help guide children through daily rhythms, including outdoor play, circle time, storytelling, creative play, and mealtimes
- Model respectful behavior and gentle discipline, fostering a sense of wonder, and cooperation
- Assist with preparation and clean-up of classroom materials and activities
- Maintain a tidy and aesthetically pleasing classroom, aligned with Waldorf values
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings
- Must be open to working with a mentor and willing to take direction well.
- Must love outdoors and going outside in all weather, year round.
- Must maintain strict safety standards and licensing requirements at all times.
- Must have very keen senses and awareness
- Must be agile and able to get up and down off the floor easily and carry 30 lbs if needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children
- Interest in or knowledge of Waldorf education and child development
- Ability to work collaboratively with the lead teacher and colleagues
- Patient, reliable, and committed to fostering a nurturing, rhythmical environment
- Must be introspective and willing to do inner work
- CPR/First Aid certification and background check required
- Previous knowledge of working in a licensed childcare environment
