Hydraulic Cylinder Repair Services | Full-Time | Monday–Friday

Position Summary

Central Hydraulics is seeking a self-motivated, results-driven Outside Sales Account Manager to develop new business while strengthening and growing existing customer accounts. This is a field-focused sales position for someone who enjoys meeting customers, identifying repair needs, and confidently asking for the sale.

Our target customers include equipment rental yards, trash and waste management companies, construction contractors, fleet maintenance operations, repair shops, municipalities, and similar businesses that rely on hydraulic equipment. The sales message centers on responsive hydraulic cylinder repair with a target 24–48 hour turnaround, subject to repair requirements and parts availability, to help reduce costly equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Make 8–12 face-to-face customer sales calls each workday, balancing new prospect visits with meaningful visits to existing accounts.
• Prospect actively for new customers, including cold calls and unscheduled visits to rental yards, trash companies, service shops, and other target businesses.
• Develop existing accounts through regular visits, relationship building, uncovering additional repair opportunities, and earning a greater share of their business.
• Meet with owners, maintenance supervisors, fleet managers, shop managers, and purchasing contacts to understand their equipment repair needs.
• Explain the value of Central Hydraulics’ target 24–48 hour cylinder repair turnaround; communicate timing accurately based on shop capacity and repair scope.
• Ask directly for repair work, follow up on quotes and open opportunities, handle objections, and close sales.
• Plan efficient daily routes and maintain consistent territory coverage and customer contact.
• Track visits, prospects, quotes, follow-ups, customer information, and sales results.
• Coordinate with shop personnel on repair requirements, status, delivery expectations, and customer satisfaction.
• Take ownership of territory sales growth, customer retention, and profitable account development.
  
  

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Outside sales experience preferred; industrial service, hydraulic repair, rental equipment, fleet, or construction industry experience is a plus.
• Self-starter with strong initiative, persistence, and the discipline to make 8–12 in-person calls daily.
• Comfortable cold calling, walking into businesses, building relationships, and asking for the sale.
• Strong communication, follow-up, time management, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the repair shop team.
• Mechanical aptitude or hydraulic knowledge preferred, but a willingness to learn is essential.

Consistent daily field activity; a growing pipeline of qualified prospects; new accounts won; stronger, more productive existing accounts; prompt follow-up; and measurable growth in repair sales and customer retention.

Compensation

Commission-based compensation with guaranteed pay. Specific guarantee, commission structure, and terms will be discussed during the hiring process.
