Essential Functions
Supplier Development & Category Leadership
- Support and guide the Disposables Purchasing team in identifying, sourcing, and qualifying supplier partners through thorough evaluation of product offerings, capabilities, and fit.
- Continuously develop and strengthen core supplier partnerships through buying groups, supplier networks, rep groups, trade shows, industry resources, and market outreach.
- Maintain current knowledge of product innovation, market trends, and manufacturer programs to keep the company positioned with leading disposables suppliers.
- Support and guide the Distribution Sales team in selling and specifying preferred foodservice disposables brands through remote and on-site customer consultations.
- Train and mentor sales team members on product selection, competitive positioning, and best practices in disposables selling and specification.
- Develop and maintain deep working knowledge of company resources, product assortment, pricing structures, and supplier programs related to disposables.
- Lead and support the Distribution Sales team in project-managing complex disposables opportunities as needed.
- Manage assigned disposables selling opportunities as self-directed projects, ensuring proactive follow-up, clear communication, and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in factory trainings, supplier meetings, and trade shows to strengthen capability, visibility, and category credibility.
- Prepare and process customer disposables quotation requests accurately, competitively, and on time within required deadlines.
- Communicate order delays or supply issues promptly and professionally, working toward solutions that balance customer needs and business objectives.
- Partner with outside sales representatives and managers to resolve service concerns and ensure successful outcomes.
- Build relationships and increase company visibility through participation in company-sponsored events, trade shows, and relevant customer or supplier activities.
- Engage in activities that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty while advancing company performance goals.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and guidance to disposables buyers, sales team members, and customers to elevate category performance and execution.
- Growth in disposables sales and penetration of preferred brands
- Supplier partner development and program adoption (preferred vendor utilization, buying group leverage)
- Quote turnaround time and accuracy
- Project win rate and on-time execution for complex disposables opportunities
- Customer satisfaction outcomes (service responsiveness, resolution effectiveness)
- Sales team capability improvements through training and ongoing enablement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Business or 3 years of equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in selling foodservice disposables or a closely related field
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to influence across sales, purchasing, and supplier partners
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining a positive, customer-first approach
- Strong organizational, follow-through, and time/resource management skills
- Proficiency with business software tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, CRM)
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience supporting consultative sales teams and/or category growth initiatives
- Familiarity with buying groups, supplier rep networks, and foodservice disposables market dynamics
- Experience with quoting, project support, and supplier program execution in a distribution environment
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Customer-first mindset with strong business judgment
- High accountability and attention to detail
- Collaborative leadership and training capability
- Comfort operating independently and within a team environment
- Professional presence with customers and supplier stakeholders
