Family Law Associate Attorney

Job Summary:
The Family Law Associate Attorney will actively manage and support a diverse caseload, providing expert legal counsel and representation to clients. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, proficiency in legal research and writing, and the capacity to handle multiple cases efficiently. Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for effective interaction with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a variety of family law cases, such as divorce, custody, and child and spousal support.
- Manage all phases of litigation and transactional matters, including drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, discovery and other legal documents.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and client advice.
- Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and negotiations.
- Maintain regular communication with clients , opposing counsel, and court to provide updates, gather information, and offer legal guidance.
- Collaborate with the managing attorney and support staff to ensure seamless case management and firm operations.
- Assist in business development efforts, including client intake, drafting engagement agreements, and rainmaking.
- Stay current with changes in laws and regulations relevant to the firm’s practice areas.
- Uphold the firm’s ethical standards and maintain strict confidentiality of client information.
- Meet billable target of 30 hours per week, with an expectation of a minimum 40-hour in-office workweek to support collaboration, training, and consistency.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.
- Solid understanding of the Texas Family Code, Texas Rules of Evidence, and the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Prior experience as an associate attorney or clerkship preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in legal software (Westlaw Form Builder & Clio preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
