Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills; newsroom experience preferred
- Knowledge of AP Style
- Ability to create engaging digital and social media content
- Basic photo editing skills; video production experience a plus
- Strong news judgment and ability to gather information from multiple sources
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptable, coachable, and eager to learn
- Bachelor's degree required
- Write, edit, publish, and update digital news content for KATU platforms
- Cover breaking news across web, social media, video, and live platforms
- Monitor news sources to identify and develop timely stories
- Report and produce original local content with compelling headlines
- Collaborate with newsroom teams to coordinate digital coverage
- Enhance stories with multimedia, related content, and audience-focused storytelling
- Create digital-first and social media content that drives engagement and traffic
- Manage newsletters and identify audience growth opportunities
- Ensure website content remains accurate, current, and engaging
- Explore innovative storytelling tools and formats
- Uphold KATU's editorial and journalistic standards across all platforms
