WBMA/WTTO/WABM - Birmingham, AL has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Broadcast IT Supervisor The Broadcast IT Supervisor oversees the technical infrastructure that supports broadcast operations, newsroom systems, and station-wide IT needs. This role ensures reliable on-air performance, maintains mission-critical systems, and leads a team responsible for supporting end-users, broadcast equipment, and IT workflows. The supervisor acts as a bridge between engineering, IT, and production teams to guarantee uninterrupted content creation and transmission.

Key Responsibilities
- IT & Broadcast Systems Management
- Maintain and support broadcast technology including automation systems, newsroom computer systems (NRCS), asset management systems, routing/switching, and playback servers.
- Oversee core IT infrastructure: servers, networks, storage, virtualization environments, cloud services, and workstations.
- Monitor system performance and resolve issues impacting production or transmission.
- Manage backup, recovery, and redundancy strategies for broadcast and IT systems.
- Team Leadership & Workflow Coordination
- Supervise IT/broadcast support staff, schedule coverage, and assign daily tasks.
- Provide mentoring, performance feedback, and technical guidance.
- Coordinate cross-departmentally with engineering, news, production, and corporate IT teams.
- Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
- Troubleshooting & Operational Support
- Lead frontline support for on-air and digital platform outages, escalating to engineering as needed.
- Diagnose hardware, software, and network issues under time-critical conditions.
- Support studio, control room, and remote production workflows.
- Maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and inventory.
- Project Planning & Implementation
- Assist with system upgrades, equipment installations, and new technology deployments.
- Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
- Participate in planning for new studios, workflow redesigns, and IT/broadcast modernization initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with corporate security, compliance, and technology standards.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement IT security policies, patching, and access control.
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with FCC, corporate, and industry regulations.
- Ensure safe operation of broadcast systems within the corporate network environment.
- Strong understanding of broadcast systems (e.g., Grass Valley, ENPS, Ross, Evertz, Imagine/Florical, Adobe, Avid, etc.).
- Solid IT background: Windows/Linux administration, networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls), virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), cloud platforms.
- Experience in fast-paced live production environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record.
- Experience with RF, transmission, and studio engineering workflows.
- Certification(s): CompTIA Network /Security , Cisco CCNA, AWS, Microsoft, SBE certifications.
- Familiarity with remote/field production and IP-based control systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of IT or broadcast engineering experience.
- On-call rotation for emergency support.
- Occasional nights, weekends, or holidays during major events or outages.
- Ability to lift equipment (up to 40–50 lbs) and work in technical areas such as racks, transmitter sites, and studios.
