Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support for a young lady with a great sense of humor and an animal lover who also has a developmental disability. This vital role involves assisting her with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to person-centered care, creative and calm approach, and possess relevant experience with seizure protocol in home and community care settings. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a young woman through compassionate caregiving and personalized support
We are looking for someone to work three days a week from 8:30 to 4:30 and have some flexibility to work on a Friday or Saturday evening two times a month. Our young woman often will say "no" as a first response. We are looking for someone who will take the time to be a creative problem solver, taking the time to get to know her and create a strong relationship to support her with growing socially and with her independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), growing independence, participating in community activities, and growing peer relationships
- Monitor health status, seizure activity, and observe for any changes in condition
- Support with meal planning, meal preparation, and nutrition management
- Provide patient observation to ensure safety and well-being at all times
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to the participant
- Support her with creating daily activity schedules
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed
- Document care activities accurately while respecting residents’ privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Support residents’ participation in community activities and promote social engagement
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and team members to deliver comprehensive care
Requirements
- Prior experience with intellectual disabilities or teaching is highly preferred
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and knowledge of person-centered planning
- Ability to work with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety assurance
- Knowledge of seizure procedures and care planning processes
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with the participant, the family, and team members
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and confidentiality
- Creative problem solving

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
