***NOTE: THIS POSITION IS BASED OUT OF SINAI HOSPITAL WITH RESPONSIBILITIES THAT MAY REQUIRE DUTY AT OTHER FACILITIES***
JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision, performs inspections of fire safety and other safety equipment, surveys all areas of the Hospital and grounds for general safety and hazard recognition. Assists in day to day operations of Hospital Safety Program as required. Works in partnership with other staff members and physicians; and pro-actively identifies and provides for the customers' needs the LifeBridge Health customer service standards as identified on each campus.
- Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of life safety equipment, including portable fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, emergency showers, and eyewash stations, in accordance with departmental policies, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory standards.
- Provides support across multiple facilities, including Sinai, Northwest, and Levindale hospitals.
- Maintains and applies current NFPA standards to ensure all testing, maintenance, and documentation meet regulatory compliance requirements Inventory Management: Inventories and maintains all equipment and supplies related to Safety and EP using department inventory database at all LifeBridges campus.
- Performs above-ceiling inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards, demonstrating working knowledge of basic electrical systems and fire protection infrastructure, including wiring, conduit, sprinkler systems, and fire-rated assemblies at Sinai, Levindale and Northwest.
- Collects, transports, and manages hazardous chemical waste, maintaining satellite accumulation areas and central storage rooms in compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations at Sinai and Northwest.
- Ensures proper labeling, segregation, storage, and documentation of hazardous materials, and coordinates with approved vendors for safe disposal.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including The Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, and EPA Maintains readiness for regulatory inspections and audits.
- Maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation of all inspections, maintenance activities, hazardous waste handling, and compliance records in accordance with requirements from regulatory and accrediting bodies, including The Joint Commission, OSHA, NFPA, and EPA.
- Adheres to and enforces safety standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with departmental policy
- Communicates safety practices and regulatory standards to hospital staff to promote a safe work environment Applies all applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards in daily work assignments.
- Maintains work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
- Demonstrates strong awareness of safety protocols and performs all duties in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Conducts routine inspections of hospital facilities and grounds to monitor safety practices and identify hazards; corrects or escalates issues to supervision as needed Supports regulatory inspections and audits by maintaining compliance and readiness across multiple facilities (Sinai, Northwest, Levindale).
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 year of experience required; 3 years of experience preferred.
- DOT: Hazardous Waste Manifest Certification & OSHA Haz-mat Training requied within 3 months of hire.
