Position Purpose:

The Psychotherapist is responsible for providing psychotherapy and other treatment services that affirm clients’ strengths, broaden their problem-solving abilities, and increase their self-knowledge. The therapist is also responsible to ensure that appropriate documentation is completed that is required for billing and coding, and acts as a mentor and leader to newer staff and master’s level students.

Key Job Activities:

  • Conducts psychotherapeutic and other clinical treatment sessions for individuals, families, and groups.
  • Completes all required case records and statistical reporting documentation within specified time frames.
  • Conducts home visits when clinically appropriate.
  • Provides direct service for 70% of work hours.
  • Facilitates consultation and outreach to assure the provision of holistic treatment.
  • Documents all services provided in a timely manner.
  • Participates in ongoing community resource development.
  • Monitors treatment plan service delivery as it relates to the internal service providers.
  • Performs evaluation for suicide, violence, and case management needs.
  • Advocates for and with patients and families in utilizing resources and services.
  • Engages patients therapeutically to help them learn healthy aspects of interpersonal social skills, hygiene and grooming and teamwork in social settings.
  • Performs individual psychotherapy based on an identified theoretical model (cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, or other).
  • Conducts crisis therapy, family therapy, and group psychotherapy.
  • Conducts clinical supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Marital Family Therapy, or related behavioral health program that is a license eligible degree required.

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Must be culturally competent.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • LCSW, LSW, LPC, or LCPC or LMFT preferred.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office environment and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGEN EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

 Category 1 - Job usually involves contact with patients or patient’s specimens.  Exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens, is possible

 Category 2 - Job may expose incumbent occasionally or in emergency situations to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens

 Category 3 - Job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.  Incumbent does not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid as a part of his/her job.

Registry (per diem) Caregivers are caregivers who work less than 1,000 hours in a calendar year.  Registry caregivers are employees of Sinai Health System but are typically on an as needed basis.  These caregivers may be called upon to cover full-time or part-time caregivers during PTO events or sick leave as well as to provide supplemental coverage.  Registry Caregivers are not eligible for Sinai’s benefit programs with the exception for Sick-C, PPO Medical Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and non-match eligible contribution to the Sinai Health System Consolidated 403(b) retirement savings plan.

Sinai Health System is currently the largest provider of mental health services for west Chicago communities. For over 25 years, Sinai has offered outpatient therapy for children and adults in a community mental health centers housed in Mount Sinai Hospital. Therapeutic services are individualized and geared to promote the full well-being of clients including the development and utilization of natural, family, and community supports. These services promote resilience and emotional recovery. As a part of the resiliency and recovery process, we attempt to understand clients in their cultural, familial, and community contexts, and support families’ functioning in these various contexts. Services are provided in variety of modalities including individual, group, and family therapy, all utilizing a Trauma-Informed lens and evidence based practices. The Cook County Justice Advisory Council has awarded Sinai Behavioral Health with a grant to provide comprehensive services to youth and adults who are residents of the South Lawndale community and have been directly impacted by interpersonal violence. A Psychotherapist will provide mental health services (individual, family, group therapy) to youth and adults impacted by community violence and maintain relationships with grant partners, community organizations, and referral sources. All psychotherapists receive regular supervision tailored to their developmental level and licensure requirements, and are encouraged to take advantage of the collaborative and collegial culture of the clinic. Candidates must be able to conduct therapy in Spanish.
