Position Purpose:
The Manager of Violence Prevention Initiatives provides project and personnel management support and assistance with operational and strategic planning, coordination, communication and evaluation of violence prevention programs and initiatives within Sinai Chicago. This position provides support to ensure achievement of program-related annual goals, strategy, and fulfillment of organizational mission.

Key Job Activities:
• Oversees daily operations and project management for violence prevention initiatives and programs, including developing project plans and timetables, monitoring program progress and outcomes, facilitating ongoing quality improvement, and supervising program staff.
• Collaborates with leadership and other key stakeholders to develop and implement processes in support of the vision, annual goals and program objectives for the Westside Trauma & Resilience Center’s violence prevention initiatives.
• Monitors and evaluates assigned grant objectives and prepares timely reports.
• Reviews program spending monthly and establish plans to ensure fiscal compliance.
• Conducts routine observations and processes simulations to ensure fidelity.
• Supervises, supports, and develops multidisciplinary teams, including program managers, supervisors, HVIP staff, and contractors.
• Procures and implements training programs on trauma informed care, crisis intervention, and violence prevention best practices.
• Supports the Director of Violence Prevention and Recovery and Sinai Community Institute in efforts to secure additional program funding, including assisting with writing grant proposals and presenting program reports and outcomes to current and prospective funders.
• Responsible for supervising and oversight of staff and students, including hiring, separating, promoting, demoting, and writing and administering evaluations.
• Represents violence prevention and community health initiatives in community-based coalitions, city-wide collaboratives, and other external meetings.
• Drafts written communications related to violence prevention policy (e.g., fact sheets, policy briefs), program reports, and communications to external partners. Facilitates internal and external meetings with diverse stakeholders.
• Conducts presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including justice system partners, policymakers, hospital leadership, and members of the public on topics related to violence prevention, justice reform and access to mental health services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or a closely related field and 5 years of progressive project management experience in research or public health
• OR Master’s degree or above in a social-policy related field and 3 years of progressive project management experience in research evaluation or public health; an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree
• Experience of direct policy or advocacy experience in public health, violence prevention, or justice reform is a plus.
• Experience in Illinois and Chicago is preferred
• Experience of managing public health and/or social services projects
• Experience of managing project team members and/or supervising staff
• Experience in community engagement and/or organizing is preferred
• Strong working knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications and database technologies.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong project management, time management, people management, and organizational skills
• Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Flexibility to work in the evenings and weekends, travel throughout Chicago required/likely
• Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be self-directed
• Ability to collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines
• Commitment to health equity, diversity and inclusion, racial justice, evidence-informed policy and practices, data-driven advocacy and community-driven processes
• Effective communication, both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences
• Experience in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.
