Sinai Akiba Academy is seeking an exceptional Student Services Coordinator for our Douglas Family Early Childhood Center to administer a variety of organizational, operational, and student social, emotional and physical support tasks addressing the needs of the school's students in Toddler to Pre-K classrooms. This person will serve as the first point of contact in many instances in which individualized and specialized student support is necessary and will coordinate with parents/guardians and teachers to further support and seek necessary intervention and student services. Through observation and both teacher and parent communication, they will help to determine what needs are necessary to address while also completing a variety of tasks related to student policies, student supervision, and developmental issues. The overall goal of this role is to help ensure that students have tailored Student Action Plans (SAPs) that meet their individual developmental needs as they matriculate through the school setting while building partnership with parents, teachers and specialists to ensure said plan is properly implemented into the classroom setting. This position is an exempt, full-time role reporting directly to the Director of Student Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively amongst other educators and student support team-members
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with DFECC parents, exhibiting care and compassion
  • Implement strong conflict resolution skills with a focus on restorative and developmentally holistic and appropriate conflict management strategies for teachers and families
  • Support teachers in thoughtfully expressing honest and clear observations and developmental expectations to families throughout the year
  • Develop and maintain effective working relations with all levels of staff including but not limited to, outside support members such as therapists and medical professionals
  • Partner and collaborate with the K-8 School Counselor and Director of Student Services as needed
  • Communicate with and reply to various school constituencies in a timely manner
  • Maintain an organized and efficient tracking system for student progress, support plans and family history with school
  • Conduct classroom observations of students and teachers, and provide modeling in regard to students who need additional support
  • Recommend and coordinate outside specialist as needed, including but not limited to: Speech and Language & Occupational Therapy
  • Create individual Student Action Plans (SAPs)
  • Provide current, research-based education and training to faculty and parents regarding how to best support a variety of learning styles/differences and behaviors within the classroom setting
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents about student progress
  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the DFECC Administration team to support DFECC teachers, families and overall operations
  • Learn, use, and apply technology as required by the School to enhance learning, provide feedback to students and parents, and engage with colleagues. Technology includes, but is not limited to, JagNet, Google Workspace, Paylocity, and any other school-approved software.
  • Perform other duties in support of SAA’s mission as assigned by the Director of Student Services and/or Head of School

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Early Childhood Special Education Credential (ECSE)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in early childhood special education
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Warm, energetic, and engaging personality
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Formal and informal assessment skills and data analysis
  • Outstanding technology: Google Drive, apps for education and touch-typing ability
  • Strong background in behavior modification preferred


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and move objects of up to 30 pounds
  • Substantial time spent standing, kneeling, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and moving up and down stairs. Responsibilities include moving quickly with children. The position also requires being able to set up and move classroom equipment, including large items such as children's desks and chairs may require setting and resetting.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Annual Salary Range: $58,000-75,000

In the spirit of pay transparency we share the base annual salary range for this position: $58,000 - $75,000. Annual base salary is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at SAA are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at SAA, your final annual base salary will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full annual base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for SAA in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
