Simsbury Public Schools is accepting applications for a full-time Science Department Supervisor at Simsbury High School commencing with the 2026-27 school year. Connecticut certification or eligibility appropriately endorsed in Science area and 092 Supervisory endorsement required. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours in the assigned curricular area.
2. Must possess a Master's Degree
3. Possess an Intermediate Administrative/Supervisory Certificate
4. Five years teaching experience
REPORTS TO: Principal/Asst. Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Department Teachers
JOB GOAL: To provide departmental leadership, coordination, and supervision in assigned curricular area, so that students may derive maximum benefit from the continuing pursuit of the subject area involved.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To develop goals, objectives, and curricula for the department.
2. To develop and implement a program for the evaluation of department goals and objectives.
3. To supervise and evaluate department personnel in coordination with the building principal.
4. To supervise and evaluate day to day and long-range substitute teacher performance.
5. To develop and present to the principal an annual department budget.
6. To provide instructional leadership for teachers in curriculum matters.
7. To conduct departmental meetings on a regular basis.
8. To assist teachers in the handling of day to day problems of instruction.
9. To develop, implement and evaluate in-service training programs for department personnel in conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent.
10. To schedule and place teachers, student-teachers, and students within the department under the direction of the principal.
11. To enforce school policies and regulations under the direction of the principal.
12. To do preliminary recruitment and screening of department personnel.
13. To keep informed on effective instructional theory and practice and transmit such information to the department.
14. To assist in identifying and utilizing community resources for the department.
15. To perform other department related duties assigned by the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:195 days per year. Salary and work year to be determined according to the current schedule for Department Supervisors.
