The Director, Group Capital Markets, is a senior role within Group Treasury, created to directly support the execution of Sims Limited’s global funding, hedging, and treasury transformation agenda. This role is the second most senior individual in the Treasury team and will provide a leadership contribution irrespective of reporting lines. This role will require a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset, given the small team size.
The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the Group Treasurer on complex, high-impact initiatives spanning financing strategy and execution, financial hedging, leasing, treasury operations, systems, and policy governance. The role is global in scope and highly execution-oriented, with direct involvement in refinancing activity, simplification of legacy treasury structures, and strengthening of controls and governance.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Capital Markets & Financing Strategy
- Support the development and execution of Sims global financing strategy, aligned with regional requirements across the U.S., UK/Europe, and ANZ.
- Prepare financial analysis, internal Board/Executive papers, and work with key internal stakeholders in the business and senior management to build alignment around key initiatives within the Treasury function across financing, hedging, and treasury operations.
- Lead and support refinancing of revolving credit facilities (RCFs), including loan syndication with global bank groups, and consider alternative finance structures.
- Assist with bank relationship management and ongoing capital markets execution, including covenant reviews, documentation support, and coordination with banks and external advisors.
2. Hedging
- Support the Treasurer and the business in managing the Group’s global FX and commodity risk management framework.
- Support hedge execution, valuation, reporting, and ongoing monitoring
- Work with the Sims Financial Control team in relation to issues including documentation, hedge designation, effectiveness testing, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Support the standardization of Treasury processes, controls, and governance across regions.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of different FX & commodity derivative products and markets.
3. Leasing & Lease Management
- Coordinate Sims’ overall approach to lease management, including using the Lease Accelerator platform to capture all lease exposures (equipment and real estate) across the business and work with the business units to support lease management, renewal schedules and leasing decisions
- Perform lease vs. buy analyses and provide decision support in partnership with other finance functions.
- Work with the Group Financial Controller to ensure alignment with accounting standards related to lease classification, capitalization, and ongoing measurement.
- Support the development and maintenance of Treasury leasing policies.
4. Treasury Operations
- Act as a backup for Treasury Operations during peak activity, system implementations, or resource constraints.
- Support simplification and maintenance of legacy intercompany funding structures together with Accounting and Tax functions
- Provide hands-on support for global treasury operations, liquidity management, and cash positioning.
5. Treasury Policies, Governance & Controls
- Support development, review, and implementation of Treasury policies covering Treasury Operations, Capital Markets, Financial Hedging, and Leasing Activities.
- Strengthen governance, controls, and consistency of policy application across the Group.
- Partner with Accounting, Tax, FP&A, Internal Audit, and regional finance teams to ensure compliance and alignment.
Experience / Qualifications /Skills Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (preferred)
- MBA in Finance or related discipline (strongly preferred)
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) – preferred
Professional Experience:
- 10–20 years of progressive experience in Global Treasury within multinational organizations.
- Hands-on experience across capital markets execution, Financial hedging, leasing, treasury operations, and international cash pooling structures.
- Extensive experience working with Treasury Management Systems, including Kyriba and Lease Accelerator.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, legacy treasury environments and deliver execution-focused solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management capability, with the ability to work with business and finance stakeholders across the organization in diverse geographic locations to address business needs and solve Treasury-related challenges in a collaborative and constructive manner
- Experience with trading platforms (FXALL, 360T, ION)
- Experience negotiating ISDAs (Chatham Financials)

Salary : $136,000 - $190,000
