Job Description:
Job Summary
The Rigger is responsible for the safe selection, inspection, assembly, and use of rigging equipment to lift, move, position, and secure heavy loads. Working closely with crane operators, field supervisors, and site personnel, the Rigger ensures all lifting operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, hooks, spreader bars, lifting beams, wire ropes, chains, and other lifting devices prior to use.
  • Determine appropriate rigging methods, load weights, load centers, and lifting points for safe material handling.
  • Attach loads to cranes and other lifting equipment using proper rigging techniques.
  • Direct crane operators during lifting operations using standard hand signals and radio communication.
  • Assist in planning and executing critical, complex, and specialty lifts.
  • Verify load stability, balance, and security before and during lifting operations.
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure all rigging equipment is properly stored, maintained, and removed from service when damaged or defective.
  • Assist with crane setup activities, including assembly, disassembly, and preparation of lifting equipment.
  • Follow lift plans, site-specific safety requirements, and customer procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation as required.
  • Assist with general labor tasks related to crane operations and project support as needed.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications
Skills:
  • Ability to understand load charts, rigging capacities, weight calculations, and lift plans.
  • Knowledge of rigging equipment, inspection criteria, and safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crane operators and jobsite personnel.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and hazard awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • NCCCO Rigger Certification (Level I or II).
  • Previous experience in rigging, crane operations, construction, heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Signalperson Qualification.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • Experience in crane rental, heavy civil construction, industrial, marine, or petrochemical environments.

  • Work is performed in a standard construction environment with prolonged periods of standing, sitting and/or walking. Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting objects up to 100 pounds at times. May occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme noise and physical harm in areas requiring hard hats, safety glasses and steel-toed safety shoes.??
  • Ability to pass DOT pre-placement physical and physical capacities exam.???
