What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at SIMS BROTHERS RECYCLING?
Summary: The Transportation Dispatcher ensures that shipments into and out of the organization are handled quickly, safely, and within budget constraints. This includes oversight of company transportation equipment and personnel operated by an organization. This position will also coordinate with outside companies that provide freight services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordinates the schedules of truck drivers to ensure products and goods are picked up and delivered in a timely manner; manages fleet of drivers to arrange the pickups and deliveries
· Manages scale operations and updates all equipment moves within Remis
· Verifies that all trailers and containers are loaded as instructed when entering scale.
· Operates truck scales, cameras, scanners and printers to ensure accurate load processing.
· Maintains equipment inventory logs, ensuring that the white board is up to date; Verifies equipment availability to dispatch yard spotter accordingly
· Completes and files all paperwork for current day before leaving; Validates all paperwork is attached to trailers for overnight operations loading.
· Schedules all appointments in and out of all operation locations. This includes remote yards and operations at customers sites.
· Reviews driver E-Logs for compliance; monitors driver’s work hours and schedules within DOT compliance standards
· Trains drivers on use of dispatch and in cab equipment. Report any issues to the Transportation Manager.
· Plans drivers moves 1-2 days ahead of requested schedule; Reschedule loads from previous day as required and notify customers accordingly.
· Communicates with Yard Operations Manager on truck flow, materials required, orders, and rejections.
· Preforms all other duties as assigned.
