Brief Description
The Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Director of Field Education and Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work, beginning July 2026. The Department of Social Work received pre-accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) for a Bachelors in Social Work as an in-person program. The social work department prepares ethical, reflective practitioners who advance human dignity, social justice, and service to others in diverse communities and professional settings. This position provides academic and administrative leadership for all aspects of field/practicum education for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. The Director collaborates with faculty, program directors, students, and community partners to ensure meaningful, high-quality practicum experiences that meet CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) and align with Simpson’s mission and vision. In addition to administrative duties, the Director will also teach courses as assigned in order to carry a full load of combined administrative and teaching responsibilities (at least 24 units/year). Using faith integration in practice and classroom learning as part of student engagement practices are priorities.

Qualifications
- Candidates are required to hold a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program and have a minimum of five years of post-MSW professional practice experience.
- Social work licensure at the clinical level (LCSW, LICSW) preferred.
- An earned doctoral degree (PhD or DSW) preferred.
- Successful candidates will demonstrate experience in field/practicum education, supervision, or program administration.
- A commitment to social justice in education and practice, excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to community partners throughout the school year as required/needed.
- Ability to teach effectively (demonstrated teaching effectiveness preferred)
- Personal relationship with Jesus, a vibrant Christian faith, and a commitment to Christian community; capable of sharing faith and engaging in conversations about Christ

- Primary responsibilities for this position are providing leadership and management for practicum education in the BSW in-person program.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community agencies and organizations across Shasta and local counties.
- Oversee student placement processes, advising students, and provide practicum supervisor orientation and support.
- This position will support the program to ensure compliance with CSWE accreditation standards and program objectives.
- The Director will also teach courses within the social work curriculum (in person or/and online) as assigned based on the needs of the program. Teaching responsibilities include, at minimum:
- Preparing weekly lectures, classroom activities, quizzes, and exams
- Delivering courses in-person at the Redding campus
- Utilizing Canvas for course management and delivery of content
- Grading student work in a timely manner
- Working with a diverse student body population
- Abiding by all University academic policies
- Within the department, faculty are expected to contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and departmental governance as well as university service.
- Travel to agency partners within local counties occasionally per month each semester.
