What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lawn and Turf Care Technician position at Simply Turf?
Tired of being stuck inside all day?
Here's a different kind of job: you're outside, you're moving, you're running your own route — and by the end of your first season, you'll know how to take a struggling lawn and turn it thick, green, and weed-free. That's a skill people pay real money for, and we'll teach it to you from day one.
Simply Turf is a locally owned, 4.8-star-rated turf care company serving 1,500 properties across Northern Virginia. We're not a national franchise pushing you through a script. We're specialists — and we're looking for our next one.
No lawn care experience? Good.
We'd rather teach the right person than un-teach the wrong habits. If you've got a strong work ethic, you like working independently, and you enjoy talking with customers, we'll handle the rest.
What your day looks like
- Run your own daily route — you work independently, not on a crew
- Apply fertilizer and weed control treatments to residential lawns
- Talk with customers and answer their lawn questions (we'll make you the expert)
- Hit your daily production goals — and get paid extra when you do
What you get
- Weekly production bonuses — crush your route, see it in your paycheck that week
- Monthly production bonuses on top of that
- A $1/hour raise within your first 30 days — pass the Virginia Registered Technician exam (we'll help you prep) and it's yours
- A real career path — clear advancement from Technician 1 to Technician 2 with more pay and responsibility
- Real training — turf science, weed ID, application techniques, customer communication
- Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM–4:30 PM (occasional Saturdays for weather makeups)
You'll thrive here if you:
- Want to be outside, not behind a desk
- Like having clear daily goals — and beating them
- Are self-motivated enough to run a route without someone looking over your shoulder
- Take pride in your work and your appearance
- Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all seasons
- Willing to pass the VA Registered Technician exam within 30 days of hire (study materials and support provided — and it comes with that $1/hr raise)
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
