This opportunity is for a great team member who has sales ability and some clerical/front desk experience and is looking for opportunities to grow within the company. We are looking for someone who is looking to be a part of a growing, fun, and interactive team!

We see all demographics of patients but have a desire to provide children with the best option for eyecare! An ideal optical team member must enjoy working with children.

Selling is an art and requires the ability to be personable, reliable, and integrous. Someone who excels in this area and has these qualities is an ideal candidate!

The Optical Team Member will be a detail-oriented team player who invests in our mission to serve our community well. We aim to deliver an exceptional experience to our patients and expect our team to be excited and ready to give their best! The optical team member is someone who will be the first point of contact for patients at the office, greeting them in a polite, well-spoken, and excited manner. Also doing so through the sale and dispensing of eyeglasses, non-prescription sunglasses, contact lenses and accessories, encouraging recommendations on style, wearability, etc. The Optical Team Member must value hard work, integrity, be dedicated, and foster an amazing team-oriented attitude.

We are also looking for someone who can navigate the optical floor with confidence and is sociable and easy to talk with children and other patients.

In addition, This role has the opportunity to participate in optician apprenticeship program and training.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Welcomes patients and visitors to the optometry office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
  • Schedules appointments to optimize patient satisfaction.
  • Assists patients with insurance papers and billing questions.
  • Personally assist customers by giving prompt, courteous and professional service; assist customers in frame and lens selection, accurately complete all required paperwork, accurately measure, and order customer spectacles.
  • Dispense optical eyewear in a professional manner and perform minor repairs and adjustments as needed.
  • Input eyeglass orders to be sent to lab for processing.
  • Packaging orders to be sent to lab.
  • Moving and managing eyeglass order from inputting orders, to processing, to complete.
  • Handle customer questions and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Share store maintenance and cleaning duties with team members by maintaining well organized work areas, accurately store eyewear and incoming orders, greeting patients, answering telephones, inputting data, dusting frame boards, and sweeping sales floor.
  • Assist team members as needed, including rendering assistance to technician.
  • Project a positive attitude toward all company objectives and directives; always demonstrate teamwork.
  • Always demonstrate dedication to honest and ethical business practices.
  • Open and close office as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or relevant work experience
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraught patients.
  • Friendly, patient, and kind personality to deal with young children
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proven work experience in optometry field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. lensometer, fax machines, etc)
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Assist with cutting lenses as responsibility grows
  • Complete optical floor training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
