Summary
This position is responsible for mine survey control.
Key Responsibilities
The Key Responsibilities Include the following but others may be assigned.
- Must be able to down load field data from GPS equipment to computer.
- Build projects, manage files, and troubleshoot Dozer GPS Systems.
- Prepare all data, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
- Conduct survey operations to provide timely and accurate survey of daily operations
- Cleans and provides general maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
- Must be able and qualified to operate equipment and vehicles as required for the job. This includes having a valid driver’s license in order to operate the vehicles.
- Assists with insuring that necessary supplies are available to perform survey work assignments.
- High School Diploma or GED

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of the basic principles of land surveying
- Knowledge of the means, methods, practices, and techniques used to operate GPS survey instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret maps.
- Ability to read and interpret mine engineering plans and specifications.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, officials, and the public.
- Ability to manage one's own time.
- Five years of mining experience is preferred.
- GPS machine control systems (Carlson CAD Software, CAT Terrain) is preferred
- A Drone Pilot License is required to conduct drone surveys.
- If you don't already have one, you must be able to quickly take and pass the FAA Drone Pilot License exam within a reasonable amount of time from being hired into this position.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Communicate information effectively to all personal on mine site.
- Have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must have knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to use basic trigonometry, algebra, and geometry.
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be self-directed.
- Accuracy in reporting results is a must.
