Nursery Sales Rep - Birmingham, AL

Summary

This role promotes and sells company products to existing accounts through direct customer contacts within assigned geographic region. Provides customers with price quotations and information regarding delivery and service. Identifies prospective customers and develops new accounts. Compiles information on competitors’ products and sales practices. Independently plans and organizes work, schedules sales calls, and submits reports of sales activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner directly with customers to identify product solutions and agronomic opportunities.
• Manage and grow customer accounts across multiple market segments.
• Collaborate with Operations team to support forecasting and inventory management.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and directives, including training, expense management, and fleet vehicle guidelines.
• Support state and county bid processes.
• Maintain accurate Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) reporting in accordance with state regulations
• Work collaboratively with other sales representatives to share market insights and customer intelligence.
• Coordinate with credit department and location administration to ensure timely customer payments and account health.

Typical Education

Associate's degree (A.A. or equivalent), preferably an Agronomy based degree (Turf Management, Horticulture, Soil Science, or Plant Pathology). Combination of education and/or experience will be considered for this position

Relevant Experience

• 3 years related experience and/or training in Specialty Ag sales or service, or as a Golf Course Assistant or Superintendent, or production nursery work
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
• Dependable with a consistent record of timeliness
• Ability to take directions and work cooperatively
  
  
  

Required Certifications

• Valid Driver’s License
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
• Must be willing and able to work Ag industry hours as needs dictate, which may include long days, weekends, holidays
• State certifications as necessary
• OR/WA – Research & Development Certificate
