Summary
This position will ensure that the product is loaded on pallets, tied and slip sheets attached, placed into machine silos with a forklift and by hand in a manner consistent with safety, quality and production goals.
This job is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining all packaging equipment and personnel assigned to Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3. This job is responsible for working with the Packaging Supervisor and Packaging Area Coordinators to lead and manage the activities of the packaging department.
Key Responsibilities
- This position reports to the Dock Team Leader and Dock Supervisor.
- The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members and following direction and instructions from a team leader or manager.
- Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position.
- Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.
Typical Education
high school diploma or equivalent
Relevant Experience
- Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully perform the job duties.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and counting).
- Must be able to perform basic computer skills (turn computer on, use a mouse, save a document, and open a file or program).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in a safe and proper manner.
- Must be able to use up to 50 pounds of push/pull force needed to push/pull barrels weighing up to 450 lbs using a rolling device.
- Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperatures and wet and slick floors.
- Must be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals wearing appropriate PPE, includes but not limited to, full wetsuit, boots, chemical gloves and face shield or goggles.
