What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drywall Hanger position at Simplex Homes?
Role and Responsibilities
· Apply drywall to walls or ceilings
· Fasten drywall panels to the inside framework of building
· Prepare panels for painting by taping or finishing joints
· Read blueprints and designs
· Measure, cut, fit and fasten panels
· Prepare panels by sawing, drilling, or cutting holes in panels for electrical outlets, air-conditioning units, and plumbing
· Smooth away excess material
· Other jobs as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Must be at least 18 years old
· High school diploma
· Proven experience as a carpenter
· Understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
· Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools
· Ability to read technical documents and drawings
· Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
· Ability to lift up to 80lbs.
· Extended periods of standing, bending, stretching, kneeling, and reaching while operating machinery
Preferred Skills
· Experience in modular home construction a plus
· Good understanding of basic math
Successful completion of carpentry courses/apprenticeship a plus
