What are the responsibilities and job description for the MRI Technologist/CT Positioner position at SimonMed?
Job Duties:
- Operate MRI equipment to obtain high-resolution diagnostic images.
- Position patients correctly and comfortably for imaging procedures.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques based on the physician's order and patient condition.
- Input and verify patient information into imaging systems; manage image transfer and storage (PACS).
- Monitor patients during scans for safety, comfort, and compliance with scan requirements.
- Follow proper protocols for contrast administration and assess for possible contraindications.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation for all studies and procedures performed.
- Perform quality control checks and routine maintenance on MRI equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all imaging safety standards, including MRI safety zones and screening.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism with patients and staff.
- Assist with training and support of new staff or students as directed.
- Uphold departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI Technology program.
- Registered MRI Technologist (ARRT-MR or ARMRIT)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a high-volume MRI environment preferred
- BLS or “Hands-On” CPR Certification (required).
- State Licensure, as required by local law.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- MRI physics and anatomy
- Cross-sectional imaging techniques
- Safety protocols related to magnetic fields and contrast agents
- PACS and imaging software systems
- Proficient in operating MRI scanners and related imaging equipment
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Effective time management and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a clinical team
- Maintain composure in high-stress or fast-paced environments
- Analyze and adapt to new imaging technologies or protocols
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving in patient care situations
- Provide compassionate care to diverse patient populations
