Job Duties:
- Perform 2D, 3D, contrast enhanced, and strain echocardiograph, including M-mode, Doppler and color flow studies, in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.-enhanced, and strain echocardiograph
- Performs vascular ultrasounds – arterial, venous, carotid and visceral vascular exams.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining exams, reviewing clinical history, and positioning patients appropriately.
- Obtain accurate diagnostic images, Doppler waveforms, and measurements following departmental and physician-approved protocols.
- Evaluate anatomy, hemodynamics, and pathology; identify normal and abnormal findings and communicate significant observations to interpreting physicians.
- Document accurate and timely exam findings and complete reports in PACS/RIS and EMR and Studycast systems.
- Maintain equipment functionality by performing routine quality control checks and reporting issues.
- Follow infection control, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain competencies and credentials.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and competency validation of new staff or students as assigned.
- Maintain current professional certifications and meet ongoing competency requirements.
Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of an approved program in Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technology and/or the required hours of hands-on training needed for registry.
- ARDMS (RDCS, RVT) or CCI (RCS) registered.
- BLS certification required (ACLS preferred, based on setting).
- IV certification required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of echocardiography experience preferred (new graduates with strong clinical training may be considered).
- Experience in adult echocardiography required, peripheral, extra cranial and visceral vascular experience preferred, as applicable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Knowledge in echocardiogram, strain imaging, contract imaging and vascular sonography.
- Proficiency in ultrasound imaging techniques and Doppler hemodynamic assessment.
- Ability to recognize abnormal findings and follow escalation protocols.
- Excellent patient care, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning.
- Clinical setting with frequent patient interaction.
- Ability to lift or assist patients (up to 50 lbs, with assistance as needed).
- May require evening, weekend, or on-call coverage depending on operational needs.
