JOB TITLE: Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET

LOCATION: Depends on region

Travel % (if applicable): Once every quarter if region out of state

 

As a Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET, you will have a direct reporting relationship to the VP of operations. You will be responsible for hiring new technologists, verifying credentials, and providing ongoing training and support. It is a management role where you will oversee the productivity of the Nuc Med and PET technologists, patient care, and assist with day-to-day operations in your regions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET
    • Radiopharmaceutical pricing/contract negotiations
      • Contracting prices nationally with Cardinal Health, RLS, PCI, Lantheus, Curium, PETNET, Sofie, GE, UPPI Pharmacies, Blue Earth, Telix, Novartis and Etc.
      • Negotiate national unused dose return policies and dose rebate policies
      • Communicate changes to billing/costs
      • Dictate which pharmacies are used based on contracting and feedback from our billing teams
    • Modality specific software introductions and pricing negotiations
      • DaTQuant – GE, Pylarify AI –Lantheus, NeuroQ – Syntermed, MIM PET Neuro – MIM, Hepatiq
    • Advocacy for advancements in new radiopharmaceutical and software use
      • Educational outreach
      • Collaboration with vendors and determining use
      • Connecting IT and contracting
    • Billing roles
      • Participate in regular billing reviews
      • Review and approve invoices
      • Provide invoices when requested from the billing team
      • Provide NDC reports when requested from billing team
      • Maintain list and pricing for all radiopharmaceuticals and drugs used in Nuc and PET
      • Update techs and radiologists on improvements to tech note verbiage and reporting verbiage as needed
    • Sealed Source Management
      • Negotiate pricing on camera and hot lab sealed source replacements and purchases
      • Maintain regular replacement of sealed sources for all sites nationally
      • Provide documentation needed and training for returning sealed sources legally
    • RAM licenses
      • Amendments
      • Renewals
      • Terminations
      • Applications
      • Communicates regularly with Brandi Escapule on changing radiologist staffing
    • Promotion of SimonMed Nationally
      • Represents SimonMed at a variety of events from schooling recruitment, radiopharmacy trainings and more
      • Assists account representatives in marketing SimonMed and answering provider questions/concerns
    • Protocol management
      • Write new protocols and edit as needed for improvement
      • Install new protocols and protocol improvements on cameras
      • Manages therapy protocols and ensures compliance
      • Communicates with radiologists for changes/improvements in protocols and scanner technical setup
    • Radiation Safety Manuals
      • Maintains Radiation Safety Manual for all sites
      • Obtains approval from RSO’s for updated signed last page of the manual annually
      • Reviews the manual for compliance annually
    • Ensures compliance to regular training required internally and by the state
      • Radiation Safety, DOT Shipping of Radioactive Materials
    • Dose returns and special dose ordering
      • Closely controls unused dose return policy – assists Maria Cisneros in all efforts
      • Orders high cost drugs and research drugs as needed – assists Maria Cisneros again
    • Research
      • Recruitment of new research opportunities
      • Applications to participate in research
      • RAM license amendments needed for IND radiopharmaceuticals
      • Scanning special phantoms/scans needed for research approval
      • Managing online accounts for image submission and submits images for each case
      • Managing online accounts for special dose ordering
      • Trains scheduling on properly scheduling and communicating with these patients
      • Trains techs on how to properly perform the exam and use the IND’s
    • ACR licenses
      • Scheduling Annual Physicist Testing for each Nuc Med camera
      • Performs Annual and Semiannual Physicist Testing for each PET camera or
      • Scheduling Annual and Semiannual Physicist Testing for each PET camera
    • Camera quality control compliance
      • Reviews logs and camera quality biannually
      • Provides training on camera quality control testing: weekly intrinsic, monthly intrinsic, MHR (or COR’s), WCC files, normalization (2D/3Dscans, extrinsic floods as needed and etc.
    • Scheduling of PM’s and Service
      • Coordinate scheduling regular PM’s for Nuc Med cameras biannually
      • Assist in scheduling unexpected service on all Nuc and PET systems as needed
      • Ordering doses needed for service
      • Obtaining approval from the state as needed for special service requests (shielding surveys)
      • Working with templates team to block schedules
    • Kronos: Schedules and Time Cards
      • Maintains schedule for all sites
      • Approving and scheduling PTO and Sick Time
      • Approving Time Card Change requests
      • Reviews and approves time cards
      • Handling call out techs
      • Updating tech Kronos profiles as needed
      • Supports compliance of licensure
    • Staffing
      • Hiring
      • Terminations
      • Salary increases
      • Disciplinary Actions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: AS, AAS or BA degree 

License/Certification: National Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and state licensure by the state regulatory agency as applicable.

Experience:

  • 5 years in a fast paced imaging facility
  • 3 years proven ability to lead and build a team.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking.

 

DRESS ATTIRE:  Business Casual or scrubs dependent on department
