Job Summary

Work as part of a team responsible for the maintenance of all College facilities by providing general labor in the support of the property operations. Responsible for the completion of work requests, maintenance projects, and operational assignments. Perform repairs to systems and equipment, including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, heating, plumbing, doors, locks, windows, appliances, and surfaces. Complete paperwork related to all work projects. Perform building inspections, preventative maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Communicate with building occupants regarding work requests.

Essential Job Functions

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Complete work requests including but not limited to changing light bulbs, installing shelving, white boards, pictures, and other wall hangings, unlocking doors, repairing plumbing, adjusting temperature controls, and performing routine maintenance on HVAC and other equipment. Takes lead on office renovations, painting, installing new ceilings, walls, doorways, counter tops, etc. Assemble materials using hand and power tools.
  • Complete maintenance projects and alterations and repairs. Install and perform repairs to systems and equipment including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, heating, plumbing, doors, locks, windows, appliances, and surfaces in support of college operations, including special events.
  • Perform building and equipment inspections. Comply with all safety standards and codes.
  • Complete all required administrative paperwork.
  • Provide oral and/or email communication with building occupants regarding work requests and maintenance projects.
  • Complete required paperwork to track and close out work orders.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of trade courses or related experience in plumbing and carpentry.
  • Massachusetts Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical experience preferred.

  • Ability to use many types of tools including tape measure, level, hand tools, power tools, etc.
  • Good customer relations and communications skills.
  • Ability to work individually and on teams.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • On site work only
  • Full time, 40-hour work week.
  • 12 months
  • Evening, holidays and/or weekend work is required occasionally.
  • Periods of high work volume at the beginning and end of school year, during special events, and summer and winter University breaks.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, loud noise, and extreme heat/cold possible.
  • Extensive physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, and walking
  • Heavy lifting and carrying (over 50 pounds)
  • On-call work required

Additional Information For Applicants

  • Work shift is Mon - Fri 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
  • Role will be a member of the Local 615, Services Employees International Union.
  • Non-exempt role. Hourly rate beginning 1/1/26 is $31.57.
