Role Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Student Organization and Programming Support is responsible for tasks and activities that support the Associate Director of the Jennifer Eckert Center for Leadership and Engagement. This role specifically focuses on advising and supporting student organizations and the newly restructured Programming Council (formerly CAB), on-campus (Office and event environments).

Essential Job Functions

  • Student Organization Support: Provide event planning support contact for student organizations. Work across campus departments to manage logistical details and purchasing.
  • Programming Council Advising: Directly support the LLC Programming Council in its transition under Campus Life Engagement. Assist the Community Events Coordinators (5) and Marketing & Promotions Coordinators (2) in planning, executing, and marketing LLC-wide programs, traditions, and community-building activities for commuters, residential populations, and tenants.
  • Program Requirements & Logistics: Support council members in hosting a minimum of 1 program per month, ensuring all programming requirements are successfully met.
  • Budget & Logistics Management: Assist council members in managing event budgets, resource allocation, and logistical workflows for all scheduled activities.
  • Platform & Content Expertise: Become a content expert on the Campus Connect (Campus Groups) student engagement platform. Facilitate group trainings and provide individual troubleshooting and support for end-users.
  • Marketing Oversight: Guide student leaders in utilizing Canva and social media platforms to effectively promote events, increase campus attendance, and drive engagement.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as front-facing, front-desk support for the office.
  • Attending one-on-one meetings as scheduled by the supervisor.
  • Provide general administrative office support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Current enrollment in a graduate program, in good standing.
  • Creative, highly organized, with outstanding attention to detail.
  • A strong interest in event planning, student leadership development, and working with diverse student groups.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Canva (or similar design products) and Google Suite.
  • Preferred (but not required): Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (for supervising the Marketing role)
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software platforms and systems quickly.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITION

  • Location: On-campus (Office and event environments).
  • Schedule: 16 hours per week for 30 weeks over the course of the academic year.
  • Flexibility: Possible evening and weekend event coverage required (strictly managed within the 16-hour weekly schedule).
  • Physical Demands: Minor physical effort/lifting up to 25 pounds for event setups.

Additional Information For Applicants

  • Compensation: $8,000
