Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Write detailed and accurate repair orders using estimating software, ensuring all customer requests and vehicle issues are clearly documented
- Communicate effectively with service technicians to relay customer concerns, review diagnostics, and prioritize repairs
- Provide transparent explanations of recommended services, including oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, suspension work, tire services, alignments, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and collision repairs
- Upsell additional services or maintenance based on vehicle diagnostics and customer needs to maximize dealership revenue while maintaining integrity
- Manage client communication throughout the repair process, providing updates and explaining repair estimates clearly
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments securely
- Maintain organized records of service orders, estimates, and client interactions in compliance with dealership procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as an automotive service writer or in a similar auto service management role within a dealership environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, brakes, suspension, tire services, oil changes, alignments, shocks & struts, air brakes, and collision repair
- Familiarity with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients of diverse backgrounds
- Experience in auto estimating and sales techniques to promote additional services effectively
- Mechanical experience or background as a service technician is highly advantageous for understanding diagnostics and repair processes
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining professionalism under pressure
