A leading global alternative investment firm is seeking a commercially minded attorney to join its legal team supporting trading, financing, and counterparty activity across a sophisticated investment platform.
This role offers broad exposure to derivatives, financing transactions, and trading operations in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The successful candidate will work closely with investment professionals, operations, compliance, and external counterparties on a wide range of strategic and day-to-day legal matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a broad range of trading and financing agreements, including derivatives documentation, repurchase agreements, prime brokerage agreements, and futures-related agreements
- Managing counterparty onboarding processes and ongoing relationship documentation
- Advising internal stakeholders on commercial and legal considerations within trading documentation and facilitating negotiations across business teams
- Tracking and managing documentation workflows, improving internal processes, and helping enhance operational efficiency
- Supporting business teams on legal and regulatory inquiries related to trading and investment activities
- Collaborating across legal, compliance, and investment functions while exercising strong judgment on escalation and risk management matters
The ideal candidate will have:
- A J.D. and at least 3 years of relevant legal experience
- Experience negotiating trading and derivatives documentation at a leading law firm or in-house legal department
- Strong familiarity with ISDA documentation, repurchase agreements, and prime brokerage agreements
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- A practical, solutions-oriented approach and a collaborative working style
