Role Description Simile Construction is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to serve as the company’s senior financial and accounting leader and a key member of the executive leadership team.
This position is responsible for leading all accounting operations while providing the financial leadership necessary to support the company’s continued growth. The Director of Finance combines the responsibilities of an experienced Construction Controller with strategic financial planning, business analysis, and executive partnership.
The Director of Finance works closely with the President, Director of Operations, Director of Preconstruction & Estimating, Project Managers, and executive leadership to ensure the company maintains accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, disciplined cash management, and reliable financial information that supports sound business decisions.
As Simile Construction continues to grow, this individual will play an important role in strengthening the company’s financial systems, improving reporting, enhancing forecasting, and building scalable processes that support long-term success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years within commercial construction.
- Extensive experience with:
- Construction accounting
- WIP reporting
- Job costing
- Revenue recognition
- Cash flow forecasting
- Budgeting
- Banking
- Bonding
- Insurance
- Experience leading accounting teams and mentoring staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CMA, or CCIFP designation.
- Experience with commercial general contractors between $30 million and $100 million in annual revenue.
- Experience implementing ERP systems.
- Experience supporting organizational growth and executive leadership.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction operations.

Success In The First 12 Months
The successful Director of Finance will:
- Successfully transition financial responsibilities from the retiring CFO.
- Build trusted relationships with ownership, Operations, and executive leadership.
- Maintain accurate and timely monthly financial reporting.
- Continue effective WIP preparation and monthly project financial reviews.
- Improve budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Strengthen banking, bonding, and insurance relationships.
- Improve visibility into company overhead, capacity, profitability, and cash flow.
· Develop executive KPI dashboards that provide greater visibility into company performance, profitability, cash flow, and forecasting.
- Identify and implement meaningful financial and operational improvements that position Simile for long-term growth.

Compensation
Location: Modesto, California (In-Person)
Base Salary: $150,000–$190,000 annually, depending on commercial construction experience, leadership capability, and overall qualifications.
Annual Bonus: Based upon overall company results at year end.
