Education and Experience:A high school diploma or equivalent AND six months of experience providing assistance or services to people who are visually impaired. Completion of Library of Congress Braille lessons #1-11 or experience working with braille is preferred. Experience working with students in a classroom or similar organized setting is preferred.*Completion of 48 semester units at an institution of higher education, or an associate's (or higher) degree highly desirable. Incumbents hired into this classification, and who have completed (and provided proof) of this level of education will be assigned as a Paraeducator, Visually Impaired at salary range 70.Licenses and CertificatesMay require a valid California driver's license. Requires valid first aid certification, and CPR certification. Employees must fulfill certification requirements within six months of employment in a regular position.Employees hired into this classification will be required to successfully complete the Library of Congress Braille lessons, #1-11, and demonstrate competency in the basic Braille alphabet and contractions. Employees must fulfill this requirement within one year of employment in this classification.

PURPOSE To establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill current and future vacancies (full time and part time, permanent and substitute) for the duration of the list, up to one year. APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THIS RECRUITMENT PROCESS: Completed applications must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Department no later than 11:59 p.m. a week prior to the test date. Late applications will not be accepted. Tentative test date: To Be Determined. TESTING PROCESS: A) Multiple Choice Test = 40% weighting on final score Candidates will be tested on English - Language Arts, Math, and Ability to Assist in Instruction. B) Structured Interview = 60% weighting on final score
