What are the responsibilities and job description for the Doggy Daycare Attendant position at Simi Valley Pet Resort?
We are an indoor daycare/boarding/grooming facility looking for a part-time kennel attendant/ animal care specialist.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Prior professional dog handling experience would be preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. Prior to onboarding, you will be required to complete a paid working interview and once you start it will be on the job training.
- Must love dogs and cleaning. There is a lot of cleaning involved (about 90% of your time will be cleaning poop, urine, wiping down fencing, mopping, sanitizing floors, doing laundry, etc,). In addition to hanging out with dogs all day.
- You will be trained in the proper techniques for correcting dogs for bad/unwanted behavior (I.E. "Time out/Bummers", Diverting, and rewarding) and the proper techniques for breaking up dog fights, if one should occur.
- Must be comfortable with all dogs, all sizes, and all breeds (we do NOT discriminate against any breed).
- Must not be afraid of being bitten, scratched, and/or breaking up dog fights.
- Technological Literacy is a plus. Our reservation system is digital and will be used to book daycare and boarding reservations, Check-in and Check-out, grooming appointments, update vaccinations, and point of sales.
- Must be responsible, reliable, honest, dependable, a self starter, and can work independently or in a team.
- Must live with 15 minutes of Simi Valley.
Must be flexible and available to work mornings, afternoons, weekends, and all holidays. ALL SHIFTS ROTATE, THEIR ARE NO SET SCHEDULES AND NO PROMISE OF PARTICULAR TIME OFF DUE TO THE NATURE OF HOW A BOARDING FACILITY HAS PEAK SEASONS
- A customer-oriented person who can deal with customers at drop-offs and pick-ups, which may require the use of conflict resolution, de-escalation, and communication skills.
- Selling dog supplies to clients (I.E. treats, dog food, toys, leashes, etc,.).
- Manage dog feeding schedules and medication administration.
- Must be dependable (have your own car) and on time to work (the dogs can't wait if you're late).
- Available to come in last minute due to an influx of dogs at the facility.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
- Must be able to be physically active the entire shift and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
