Position Overview:
Reporting to Executive Director, Business Development & Licensing, this position will play a crucial role as a key partner within the Business Development team and the senior management team. This position involves developing tactical and strategic execution to achieve department goals. The role includes overseeing the team's engagement in evaluating investment, partnership opportunities and other business development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business development opportunities such as product/portfolio acquisitions and/or in/out-licensing related to innovative medicines, partnerships, collaborations and acquisitions of businesses in the pharma industry with focus on oncology but not only limited to these areas;
- Perform in-depth analysis of biotech companies' assets, including drug pipelines, technology platforms, IP and etc. Evaluate these assets for their scientific validity, market potential.
- Explore and assess investment opportunities by analyzing market trends, financial reports, and pipeline market potential of biotech companies. Support the complex financial models to evaluate potential acquisition targets and/or in-licensing opportunities;
- Identify relevant BD targets via meetings with external companies, visit conferences and use industry databases;
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to align business development strategies. Present analytical findings and strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Continuously monitor changes in the biotech sector, including regulatory updates, technological advances, and market dynamics.
- Preparation of materials such as presentations/reports and other deliverables to support the department's activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, physiology, or related biomedical science fields; advanced degree (PhD or MD) preferred.
- Prior experience in venture capital, equity research, or business development, with a strong preference for backgrounds in VC or equity research.
- Knowledgeable about oncology drug development and passionate about industry trends.
- Analytical, intelligent, and sharp with the ability to quickly adapt and acquire new skills.
Salary : $130,000 - $180,000
