Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Boston, MA. As the Director/Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry, you will lead and manage medicinal chemistry research projects to advance Simcere Zaiming’s oncology drug discovery efforts. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the design and synthesis of novel compounds, providing strategic input into project progression, collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading team members, and ensuring alignment with company goals. You will also evaluate emerging technologies, contribute to external collaborations, and mentor junior chemists to foster their professional growth.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Medicinal Chemistry, including experience in drug design, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization processes.
- Proven ability to oversee and mentor teams of researchers, ensuring high-quality scientific output and professional development.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration with biology, pharmacology, and translational teams to progress drug discovery programs.
- Familiarity with modern synthetic and analytical techniques, including structure-activity relationship analysis.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field, with significant industry experience in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to drive innovation and effectively manage projects in a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Experience in oncology-focused drug discovery is highly desirable.
- A deep understanding of emerging trends and technologies in the field of medicinal chemistry (RIPTAC or MG experience ) is a plus.
