What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1.0 Language Development Teacher-SVE SY 26/27 position at Silverthorne Elementary School?
We seek a collaborative, culturally responsive Language Development Teacher to champion bilingual growth across our school. In our Dual Language program, every student is a language learner — and this teacher is central to their success. You will partner closely with a second Language Development Teacher to support all K–5 students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Co-teach alongside grade-level teachers using push-in models in both Spanish and English
- Co-plan with grade-level teams to embed language objectives into content-area instruction
- Provide specialized instruction and individualized support for newcomer students
- Administer and interpret language proficiency assessments (e.g., WIDA); monitor growth over time
- Partner with the partner Language Development Teacher for coordinated, school-wide language support
- Model sheltered instruction strategies and scaffold language for classroom teachers
- Communicate and build relationships with families in both Spanish and English
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid teaching license with CLD, Bilingual, or TESOL endorsement
- Preferred Bilingual
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Linguistics, or related field
- Knowledge of language acquisition theory and best practices for emergent bilinguals
- Commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and all language learners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a Dual Language, Two-Way Immersion, or bilingual setting
- Familiarity with WIDA ELD Standards and ACCESS assessment
- Co-teaching or push-in/pull-out language support experience
- Knowledge of SIOP, GLAD, or similar sheltered instruction frameworks
- Experience supporting newcomer and recently arrived students and families
- Master’s degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or Literacy
For all positions, experience is determined by years of work in the same job title. Experience that is similar but not the same job may be calculated at a 3:1 credit for years of experience.
