The Shipping Clerk is responsible for supporting the final quality check, preparation, coordination, and loading of completed fixtures for shipment. This role helps ensure finished products are inspected, documented, packaged, staged, and loaded accurately, safely, and on schedule. The Shipping Clerk works closely with production, quality control, warehouse, and logistics teams to maintain smooth outbound shipping operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with final quality control checks on completed fixtures before shipment, including reviewing finish, parts, hardware, labeling, packaging, and overall condition.
- Verify completed fixtures against work orders, packing lists, drawings, customer requirements, or shipment documentation to help ensure accuracy.
- Identify and communicate defects, missing components, damage, or shipment discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor, quality control team, or production lead.
- Prepare completed fixtures for shipment by wrapping, protecting, labeling, staging, and organizing items according to shipment schedules and carrier requirements.
- Support outbound logistics by helping coordinate shipment priorities, pickup schedules, carrier paperwork, freight documentation, and staging locations.
- Maintain accurate shipping records, including packing lists, shipment counts, tracking information, and related documentation.
- Assist with loading trucks, containers, or trailers safely and efficiently while protecting fixtures from damage during handling and transit.
- Operate or assist with material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, dollies, and forklifts if trained and authorized.
- Keep the shipping, staging, and loading areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Follow company safety procedures, proper lifting practices, and shipping standards at all times.
- Communicate effectively with production, quality control, warehouse, project management, customer service, and freight carriers regarding shipment status and issues.
- Support inventory control of shipping materials such as pallets, crates, cardboard, foam, stretch wrap, labels, and other supplies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, manufacturing, fixtures, millwork, retail displays, or a related production environment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects, damage, missing parts, or documentation errors.
- Ability to read and understand packing lists, work orders, labels, shipment schedules, and basic project documentation.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple shipments in a deadline-driven environment.
- Basic computer or data entry skills for shipping records, labels, or logistics systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, supervisors, and freight carriers.
- Forklift experience or certification preferred, or willingness to become certified if required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse, production, or shipping dock environment.
- Ability to safely assist with truck loading and unloading activities.
Pay: $18.26 - $23.74 per hour
