The Maintenance Director in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the facility's buildings and grounds. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and scheduling maintenance: The Maintenance Director supervises, schedules, and performs skilled technical and preventive maintenance, including building and grounds maintenance, alteration and repair of the facility, and equipment repairs.
- Maintaining equipment: Ensures the performance, condition, and reliability of all plumbing, mechanical, and electrical equipment to ensure efficient operation of all equipment.
- Developing maintenance programs: Develops, evaluates, and maintains preventative maintenance programs, performing daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of essential equipment and systems.
- Ensuring compliance: Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including life safety codes and OSHA standards.
- Fire safety: Plans, coordinates, and carries out fire drills in accordance with State Fire Regulations and monthly extinguisher checks.
- Facility maintenance: Maintains building maintenance records, blueprints, maps, and schematics to ensure an accurate representation of facility status.
