Job Title: Dispatcher

FLSA Status: Regular, Full-time, non-exempt

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (normally)

Department: Transportation Department (Dept#300)

Reports to: Supervisor of Transportation Services

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Schedule and dispatch client transportation supporting staff, drivers and clients to achieve maximum efficiency and excellence in customer service and capacity. Create efficient routing to provide the most convenient service and ensure maximum driver and fleet resource management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Running data reports and correcting errors if needed
  • Ensure drivers are being utilized efficiently
  • Create and maintain a welcoming environment for staff and volunteer drivers
  • Maintain confidentiality of client data and services
  • Uphold a professional demeanor at work and maintain minimal oversight
  • Support weekend and evening events as needed
  • Make sure to communicate with drivers about important changes to their manifest, traffic conditions, and any other related information that drivers need to be successful
  • Able to route drivers using a transportation routing program
  • Other duties as required

DRIVING DUTIES

Will occasionally be required to drive on behalf of Silver Key. Must maintain a current, valid Colorado Driver's License. Must maintain the state issued minimum automotive liability insurance coverage. Must observe and obey all federal, state, and local traffic laws. Responsible for the proper function and maintenance of any Silver Key vehicles used in performing assigned duties.

Business-specific knowledge: Knowledge of Silver Key Senior Services mission statement, policies/procedures, business-specific software, and safety regulations. This position does require a background check by Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS).

REQUIRED EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One year of related dispatch and/or training experience
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams

Desirable, Preferred, Or Special Qualifications

  • Previous use of Ecolane dispatch software a plus
  • Familiar with the Colorado Springs area

TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY

This position requires good proficiency in the use of computer software and applications, office equipment, and professional telephone use. The ability to adequately type quickly with few to no errors is also very important. This position will often require multi-tasking in the use of computers, phone, and office equipment while interacting with clients. Candidates for this position may be required to take and pass technology proficiency assessments prior to employment.

Language Skills

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, statistical and mathematical abilities, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and distill information for many audiences. Proficiency in non-English languages is highly valued.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • You must possess and maintain a Colorado Driver's License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

Vision Requirements

Position requires close, distance and peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Moderate noise within business office atmosphere with computers, printers, and light traffic.
