What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUPES - Environmental Services Supervisor position at Silver Hill Hospital?
The Environmental Services Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a clean and safe environment within the facility. In collaboration with the department manager, this position involves recommending hiring and promotions, assigning duties, coaching staff, enforcing hospital policies, and evaluating performance. The supervisor also assists in housekeeping duties to ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitation are met.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- 6:30am - 3:00pm
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the standard of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained throughout the Hospital Facility.
- Organizes day-to-day work requirements and assigns housekeepers.
- Perform inspections of all areas to ensure that the standards of cleanliness are being maintained.
- Ensures that all housekeeping closets, carts, and storage are kept neat and in a tidy manner.
- Performs cleaning of patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, and other areas as needed.
- Reports any maintenance issues to the Maintenance Department.
- Assists in orientation and training for all new hires.
- Issues supplies throughout the Hospital Facility.
- Coordinates housekeeping needs within the Events platform to include tablecloths and cleaning.
- Communicates between departments to ensure effectiveness of housekeeping to perform project cleaning.
- Ensures that any patient/housekeeping complaints are resolved in a timely manner or communicated to upper management.
- Performs other duties such as making work schedules or completing the payroll in the absence of the Environmental Services Manager.
- To ensure that all housekeeping equipment is being maintained and kept in good working conditions.
- Performs inventories of chemicals, linens, equipment, and other items as required.
- Provides on call service in the event of an emergency.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
- Must have a valid Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to SHH insurer.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be bilingual – Spanish/English
Education and Experience:
- High School Degree or GED
- Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in a housekeeping department in a healthcare or hospitality setting
Physical Requirements:
- Capacity to lift and transport items up to a specified weight limit (e.g., 25-50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, and drive company vehicles across the campus in different weather conditions
