What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Counselor Full-Time and Per-Diem position at Silver Hill Hospital?
Silver Hill Hospital, a private nonprofit psychiatric hospital located in New Canaan, CT – just 50 miles north of New York City, with ninety years of history in its field, is currently seeking Residential Counselors.
Some of the duties and tasks that come along with this position are:
- Acts as a skills coach for residents to reinforce skill development.
- Provides structure and supervision of milieu setting, including the opportunity to run goal-setting and skill review groups.
- Shares patient observations with treatment team and act as point of communication between patient and treatment team.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and complete records of residents.
- Assigns, assists, and supervises residents in weekly duties.
- Actively and constructively participates in house staff meetings.
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
- Maintains and respects confidentiality of patient/physician/personnel information.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, current MSW student or new MSW graduate preferred
- Understanding of mental health and addiction issues.
- Ability to flourish in a fast-paced environment where the total emphasis is on delivering optimum patient care.
- Relevant work experience preferred.
