Silver Gulch, Fairbanks’ only brewpub and Alaska’s northernmost brewery since 1998, is seeking an experienced Food & Beverage Manager to lead daily operations and help guide the next chapter of our long-standing, locally owned brewery and brewpub.
Silver Gulch in Fox, just 11 miles north of Fairbanks, is a destination for both locals and visitors, operates a multi-revenue hospitality business including restaurant dining, brewery production, bar service, retail sales, and packaged beer. Our brewpub reflects Fairbanks’ mining heritage and frontier spirit, and we’re looking for an experienced leader who wants to build on that tradition.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role for a manager who enjoys being on the floor with the team during service while also managing the financial and operational side of the business. We are a working brewpub, and our leadership team leads from the floor during service while supporting the team and maintaining high operational standards.
The Food & Beverage Manager oversees all daily operations and has direct responsibility for staffing, operational systems, and financial performance, working closely with ownership to guide the long-term growth of the business and a positive workplace culture.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys building teams, improving systems, and being part of a close-knit Alaska community. For the right candidate, this role offers long-term leadership opportunities and the ability to shape systems, culture, and operational strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all food and beverage operations, including restaurant, bar, catering, and banquet services to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking processes, and food handling to maintain quality standards and compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste to optimize profitability.
- Utilize POS systems such as Squirrel and Yellowdog for order processing and sales reconciliation.
- Train staff on food safety protocols, customer service excellence, and operational procedures to promote a skilled and motivated team.
- Coordinate shift management by scheduling staff efficiently to meet business demands while maintaining high service standards.
- Implement budgeting strategies and monitor financial performance for revenue targets and control costs.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations, sanitation standards, and food safety policies across all departments.
- Lead staff interviewing, onboarding, ongoing training & development initiatives.
- Manage labor, scheduling, and staffing levels to maintain profitability and service standards.
- Oversee inventory, ordering, and cost control for food and beverage programs.
- Maintain a professional and positive team culture.
We are seeking candidates with proven hospitality leadership experience.
Qualifications include:
- 5 years of restaurant or brewpub management experience
- Experience managing full-service restaurant operations
- Strong understanding of P&L management, labor control, and cost management
- Demonstrated ability to build and retain strong teams
- Experience managing shifts in fast-paced hospitality environments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Applicants must currently reside in Alaska and have own transportation to be considered.
This position requires availability for evenings, weekends, and peak tourism seasons.
