Job Summary:

Own the earned‐media engine for Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts. The Publicity & Media Relations Manager balances daily pitching and reporter relationship-building with buzz-worthy campaigns and integrated content that will break through on traditional media and emerging platforms. Partnering with social, creative, and analytics teams, you’ll set and hit coverage metrics that advance our brand story across traditional outlets and the feeds our audience scrolls every day.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned to assist the team.

  • Mine story ideas and pitch tailored angles daily to regional, national, and trade media along with creators and tastemakers.
  • Maintain and grow a dynamic contact list of reporters, editors, podcasters, bloggers. Schedule regular in-market visits and invites to Silver Dollar City’s Ozark Mountain attractions.
  • Concept and execute earned media stories, stunts, pop-ups, and events that sparks headlines and generate conversation.
  • Coordinate with Content & Social teams to to capture real-time assets that extend reach.
  • Ideate news hooks that translate to traditional and emerging media formats.
  • Package press kits that blend copy, video, and other elements to meet evolving needs of journalists and creators.
  • Set KPIs for share of voice and coverage. Deliver consistent simple reporting dashboards.
  • Use insights to optimize pitch timing, outlet mix, and story angles.
  • Under direction of the PR & Content Director, develop annual strategic destination PR plans that work to increase positive share of voice for Silver Dollar City through earned traditional and social media opportunities.
  • Cultivate and monitor relationships with key media representatives, focusing on targeted markets as assigned by the Director of PR & Content.
  • Discern which reactive media requests to respond to and facilitate any and all necessary information, access to the park, park experts, video/photo assets to garner positive media exposure.
  • Manage the coordination and facilitation of site visits at all properties for members of the media, including print, broadcast and digital.
  • Monitor news trends to maintain a solid grasp of relevancy as it relates to Silver dollar City, the theme park/amusement and hospitality industries and the community (local, regional and global).
  • With the PR & Content teams, develop and coordinate detailed tactical plans for major PR events including but not limited to: familiarization tours, festival openings, insider and influencer events, and media production/on-site shoots.
  • Receive and respond to inquiries, concerns and complaints from customers and park guests as needed.
  • Represent the Park at business and community functions with professionalism.
  • Interact and build relationships with various groups and individuals including Senior leadership and employees/hosts, guests/customers, property support center officials, other park counterparts, community leaders, vendors, and the general public.
  • Routinely serve as Silver Dollar City’s Park Host-in-charge.
  • Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time.


Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or a related field required.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on media relations/publicity experience—agency or in-house—preferably in tourism, hospitality, news media, entertainment, or lifestyle brands.
  • Documented wins in both sustained pitching and one-off buzzworthy activations.
  • Familiarity with media database tools (Muckrack) and social analytics.
  • Proven experience effectively communicating information and ideas in a written form, specifically as it relates to news releases, internal publications, media pitches and press kits.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Proven experience with written reports, document procedures, business correspondence, and internal manuals.
  • Established media contacts in destination marketing preferred.
  • On-camera experience as a spokesperson strongly preferred.
  • Experience with graphic design and related software preferred.

Work Environment & Travel Expectations:

The Publicity & Media Relations Manager will primarily work in a professional office environment characterized by:

  • Standard office conditions with minimal noise, consistent indoor temperatures, and typical office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
  • A desk-based setting with frequent computer use, writing, and digital communication.
  • Regular collaboration with team members in person and via virtual meetings.

In addition to the office-based work, this position also requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability due to the nature of earned media and live event coverage. The Manager will:

  • Travel regularly to attend or support media visits, activations, press events, and other location-based assignments
  • Be available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays based on media production schedules and news cycles.
  • Be present during live shoots, influencer experiences, and media opportunities in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions.
  • Frequently serve as a media point of contact on-site, sometimes with short notice or during fast-paced situations.
  • Work non-traditional hours when needed to align with storytelling moments or support reputation management efforts.
