Position Summary: Administers, coordinates, designs, evaluates and implements Point of Care Testing (POCT) throughout the hospital and ancillary sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates in annual Nursing competency program and works with management to ensure compliance, documentation and corrective action when needed
- Provides POCT education as required
- Performs and oversees validation of POCT testing platforms
- Resource for POCT instrumentation – troubleshoots instrument problems including middleware
- Liaison between laboratory and nursing. Ensures compliance for POCT associates
- Participates in monthly POCT meetings
- Provides feedback on compliance, use and issues related to POCT to appropriate unit leadership
- Responsible for train the trainer instrument use and establishes competency assessment
- Rounds on routine basis to appropriate units to verify compliance with POCT procedures, QC documentation, reagent usage. Provides feedback to nursing to ensure compliance
- Maintains regulatory documents and CAP checklists and works with lab management to ensure compliance
- Promotes a clean and safe environment of care
- Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct
Required Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- MT/MLS with greater 3 years’ experience or MLT with greater than 5 years’ experience
- A.S.C.P. or equivalent
- Demonstrates leadership skills
