Medicaid Billing & Insurance Authorization Specialist (Part-Time)

Pay: $15.00–$20.00 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Part-Time (Minimum 4 days per week; 4-8 hour shifts)

Position Summary:

Silver Connections Center is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medicaid Billing & Insurance Authorization Specialist to manage Medicaid eligibility, insurance verification, and authorization processes for our clients. This role is responsible for ensuring clients receive timely Medicaid coverage approvals and that all required documentation is submitted accurately and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has experience working with Medicaid, managed care organizations, and Medicaid health plans (including Next Generation Medicaid plans), and understands healthcare eligibility and insurance verification processes. Experience with Medicaid eligibility verification, prior authorizations, and payer requirements is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

- Verify Medicaid eligibility and active insurance coverage for all new and existing clients.

- Obtain authorizations and approvals for services through Medicaid managed care organizations and Next Generation Medicaid health plans.

- Submit, monitor, and follow up on authorization requests to ensure timely approvals.

- Communicate with Medicaid representatives, insurance companies, healthcare providers, and clients regarding coverage and eligibility.

- Resolve insurance eligibility issues, denials, and authorization delays.

- Maintain accurate client insurance records and documentation.

- Ensure compliance with Medicaid regulations, HIPAA, and organizational policies.

- Track pending authorizations and provide regular status updates.

- Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure uninterrupted client services.

- Assist with Medicaid billing support and documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Minimum 1-2 years of experience with Medicaid eligibility, insurance verification, medical billing, or prior authorizations preferred.

- Knowledge of Medicaid managed care plans and healthcare payer processes.

- Strong computer and data entry skills.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to manage multiple cases while meeting deadlines.

- Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) or billing software is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

- Medicaid billing.

- Prior authorization processing.

- Insurance verification.

- Medical office or behavioral healthcare experience.

- Experience working with Medicaid managed care organizations or Next Generation Medicaid plans.
