What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dance Teacher/Choreographer position at Silver City Dance Center?
Silver City Dance Center in Taunton is looking for energetic and knowledgeable teachers to join our team! We are entering our 26th season of educating dancers in downtown Taunton. The ideal candidate will have a degree in dance or is working towards a degree in dance. We are looking for someone with at least 2 years experience working in a studio environment.
We are open from 4:30pm-9:00pm Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 9am-1pm. We are looking for a creative individual who wants to continue to learn. Paid continuing education is offered throughout the year. We are hiring for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings, as well as looking for subs for the other days of the week.
We are looking for a flexible and versatile individual who is comfortable leading a class of 3 year olds as well as helping our beginning through advanced dancers reach their goals. Candidate should be comfortable teaching the following styles: Hip Hop, Modern, Musical Theater, Contemporary as well as Ballet, Tap and Jazz for the younger dancers.
SCDC is a member of SOA(Studio Owner Association) and firmly believes in the following principles: age-appropriate movement, music and costuming are always appropriate. The right candidate will be warm, genuine, willing to continue their education, energetic, motivational and helpful.
Duties include: lesson planning, following a syllabus, creating Recital Choreography, choosing costumes and music for our Annual Recital. Teachers must be available to assist with our Annual Dance Recitals in June.
We also participate in Community Events and teachers are requested to work these events. All time spent working (teaching, working a booth, helping at Recital) is paid.
